Reporting for Duty (7.3)
Absenteeism and Tardiness (7.4)
Certification of Payroll (7.5)

    1. Purpose:
    2. Good attendance is one of the attributes the City considers important. The purpose of the Rule is to identify attendance guidelines for the City. On occasion, it may be necessary for an employee to miss work or be late. Based on the department, hours of work and attendance requirements may vary.

    3. Documentation:
  1. Authority: Employees shall be at their place of work in accordance with these Rules and Regulations and their departmental regulations, if any.
  2.

  3. Authorized Work: No employee shall be paid for other than authorized recorded time actually worked unless he/she is authorized to be absent therefrom with pay in accordance with these Rules and Regulations.
  4.

  5. Time Sheets: All departments shall maintain separate daily time sheets for each non-exempt employee showing the hours that each non-exempt employee actually worked. These forms are to be completed and signed by the employee. The employee’s supervisor will also sign these forms.

    1. Reporting for Duty:
    2. An employee (or employee’s designee) who will be either late or unable to report for work shall notify his/her Department Head or Supervisor prior to the start of the employee’s work day, to the extent practicable, with the reason for the absence or lateness. If the employee does not talk with the supervisor, contact information should be left for the supervisor. This will insure efficient operation of the department.

    3. Absenteeism and Tardiness:

  1. General: Repeated failure by an employee to conform to the City’s attendance requirements (e.g., repeated tardiness, unauthorized absences, high number of absences or unauthorized departures from work) may subject the employee to disciplinary action as determined by the employee’s supervisor and/or Department Head (See Rule 5).
  2.

  3. Termination for Failure to Report for Work: Employees, who without proper authorization, do not report to their assigned work centers for three (3) consecutive work days shall be considered as having abandoned their position and it will be considered a resignation of their employment in accordance with these Rules. A voluntary resignation shall be recorded in the employee’s personnel files.

    1. Certification of Payroll:

Absences will be recorded for payroll purposes each week and each Department Director will certify the payroll for all their employees.
