    1. Purpose:
    2. The purpose of this Rule is to provide all employees and management an effective procedure to discuss and resolve employee related issues.

    3. Exclusions:
    4. Rule 5.8, Conduct, Performance and Disciplinary covers all disciplinary matters. Non-disciplinary matters for general non-represented employees are covered in Rule 11. Non-disciplinary matters for PBA Police employees are covered in the PBA contract and non-disciplinary matters for General employees bargaining unit are covered in the Teamsters contract.

    5. Procedure:

     

  1. Problem Solving/Conflict Resolution Procedure:

    2. Employee must talk with his/her immediate supervisor or Manager.
    3. If not resolved, employee must talk with the Department Head.
    4. If a satisfactory resolution is not achieved or the problem is not one that the employee wishes to discuss with the Manager or Department Head, then the employee may contact the Department of Human Resources.
    5. Resolution of the problem should be discussed in full until all parties are satisfied with the outcome.

       

    1. Open Door Policy

An Open Door Policy means the employee can always approach his/her supervisor, manager, Department Head or the Department of Human Resources for direction or discussion. The Open Door Policy does not mean an employee should ignore the chain of command. If the employee is unable to discuss a job-related problem with his or her immediate supervisor because the problem involves the immediate supervisor, then the employee should discuss the matter with the person next in the chain of command.
